Hobakso Valley

Hobakso Valley is located in the Baekgunsan Mountain valley, surrounded by Jaeyaksan and Gajisan Mountains, also called Yeongnam Alps.

Hobakso Valley looks like granite carpet covering a wide area, with water flowing upon it to cool down the midsummer heat.

Pearl-white granite was washed for hundreds of thousands of years to form Hobakso, which is named for the shape of pumpkin.

The valley is said to have been as deep as a whole yarn of thread. According to old historical records, Hobakso also served as a site for ceremonies praying for rain during prolonged draughts.
